  1. I found a piece of this in a gravel pile in Iowa how does it get there

  2. many of the corals that we know of were land building types, meaning they had stone like skeletons that later became land mass. this is to say that corals are everywhere, and the minute differences in them determine species, which is a hard study and really takes decent equipment. do a google image search of alveopora iowa, and that should get you started to identifying your species as quickly as possible.
